Yes, it has been quite a while since I updated the site but things have been pretty chaotic here for the past number of months. My job at the bookshop has been taking up an inordinate amount of my time but I'm dedicated to changing things in that department in the coming months: summer will be manic, but busy in a different way than it is now.
The weather has been absolutely disgraceful here for the past while too but I can confirm I've noticed that weird spring-like smell in the air on at least two evenings in the past week so I'm starting to get the urge to head out and plant some cds!
Despite my lack of updates I've been busy writing new Zpg material since November and I think everything is starting to sound a bit more polished, despite the fact that I'm still adhering rigidly to the improvisational/live method of composition.
A friend in Ireland has expressed an interest in making a cover for the next cdr as well and the general plan is that it will be a concept album of sorts based on the wonderful 1974 sci-fi novel The Forever War by Joe Haldeman. I have written maybe 12 or 14 tracks since I started planting the "Boraces" cd in November and I could imagine at least 7 or 8 of them being suitable for the aforementioned release. Am looking forward to seeing her art very much and would hope to have the cd ready to go in the next 4 - 6 weeks all going to plan.
There are a couple of other bits of news but I don't really want to mention them until they're more actualised which will take a few more months I reckon. Otherwise things are looking good, we've just moved house to a larger and more soundproofed place out in Hove, very peaceful altogether. The last flat was abysmal for sound so I resorted to making everything on headphones so as not to disturb or be disturbed. I very much like working that way though, I hate the idea of someone having to listen to me working on the same loop for 20mins while I try to get something to sit properly with the other elements in the song.
So thats it for the time being, more news as it gets finished.
