After reading up on Shoreham Cement Works (mentioned in a previous post) I spent much of last week investigating other derelict sites in the East Sussex area. By chance I came across Tide Mills, an abandoned 18th Century tide powered mill complex which was abandoned in 1939. More information here. Tide Mills is quite close to Brighton so after checking the possibility of suitable caches in the area my walking partner and I set out with a packed lunch to investigate.
Its not the most visually interesting of sites, much of it having been cleared for military training purposes after the last inhabitants were ejected but I got a few nice shots and deposited a cassette in the cache here.
Newhaven pier is pretty neat however, took lots of shots and then headed back inland in a U shape to take a peek at Newhaven Fort before the light failed.
I dropped my second cassette of the day in the very ingenious cache here.
